MiDAS Training
The nationally recognised Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme.
Who needs MiDAS training?
Anyone driving a minibus should complete some form of regular practical driver training.
Driving a minibus is very different from driving a car, yet many minibus drivers have never had any professional driver training because they have inherited D1 entitlement or are driving minibuses with a GVW of 3500kg or under.
MiDAS is the DVSA-recommended scheme so all drivers receive some professional training before driving a minibus, as well as brushing up on their theoretical knowledge. It is recommended that drivers complete the MiDAS training every four years to refresh their knowledge and enhance their skills.
MiDAS Accessible has additional training on driving with less-able passengers, and those with additional needs, and safely securing wheelchairs in a minibus.
Reducing accidents with MiDAS Training
In over 20 years of working with schools and organisations driving minibuses, we have seen that the most common minibus bumps and scrapes are caused by drivers not being aware of the size of the vehicle they are driving.
Dented roofs, missing wing mirrors and rear passenger-side scrapes are the most common types of damage we see, and all could be avoided with some additional awareness and training on manoeuvring these larger vehicles.
We are one of the UK’s leading providers of MiDAS training, and use only professional driving instructors for MiDAS training. You will benefit from safer drivers, who are better informed and know how to avoid common bumps and scratches.

MiDAS Accessible Training
MiDAS Accessible driver training is crucial for any driver, or passenger assistant, who is working with less able-bodied passengers or those with special needs.
The emphasis of the theory element of MiDAS Accessible is understanding the needs of your passengers. With interviews from accessible minibus users, your eyes will be opened to the challenges those with limited mobility or a disability face daily, and how your actions will impact their experience and well-being. You will also learn the consequences of not ensuring your wheelchair passengers are properly secured in the minibus.
During the practical element of MiDAS Accessible, you will be taught how to bring a wheelchair onto the minibus, via a ramp or lift, and secure it safely using the correct restraints.
Even those who have worked with disabled and special needs passengers for a long time will benefit from the insights gained through MiDAS Accessible.
MiDAS Accessible is an add-on to the standard MiDAS training and includes the standard theory test and practical driving assessment.
